Booking a tour.
When you book a tour on our website www.localguides.is, you accept our terms & conditions, stated in this document.
Please make sure that you fill out all required information, dates, number of passengers, passengers names, place of pick up, from hotel / guesthouse, airport transfers, flight numbers, special request, etc.
As soon as you have booked, you will receive confirmation of the booking, containing information about the booking. Vouchers for activities and services you booked. Please read this carefully as changes on later stages may be difficult and in some cases even not possible.
In Iceland, especially in the countryside we can not always guarantee the same standards as in Reykjavik or bigger towns.
Rooms are sometimes smaller, double bed can not always be guaranteed, instead there are two single beds put together. Triple or quad rooms sometimes have an extra camp bed and/or mattress on the floor resulting in smaller floor space.
We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. All bookings must be paid before departure.
Bookings confirmed less than 30 days prior to departure, must be paid in full.
Bookings confirmed more than 30 days prior to departure must pay 20% confirmation and the rest must be paid 30 days prior to departure.
In case of credit card fraud, wrong or insufficient credit card information or payment declined, Localguides reserves the right to cancel or delay issue of tickets or bookings and/or to charge surcharge.
Cancellation of a booking.
If booking is cancelled, Localguides will always do their best to pay as much as possible of confirmation fee, or the full amount back to the customer. However, due to various cancellation terms with tour operators and companies we work with, Localguides remain the right to withhold part or all of the payment according to following terms.
Cancellations made more than 3 weeks prior to departure of the tour, deposit paid in full.
Cancellations made 1 weeks to 3 weeks prior to departure of the tour, 50% of booking paid.
Cancellations made 72 hours to 1 week prior to departure of the tour, 75% of booking paid.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to departure 100% of booking paid.
Group bookings: (8 passengers and more)
Cancellations made more than 8 weeks prior to departure to the tour, deposit paid in full.
Cancellations made 6 to 8 weeks prior to departure to the tour, 40% of booking paid.
Cancellations made 4 to 6 weeks prior to departure to the tour, 50% of booking paid.
Cancellations made 2 to 4 weeks prior to departure to the tour, 75% of booking paid.
Cancellations made 72 hours to 2 weeks prior to departure to the tour, 90% of booking paid.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to departure to the tour, 100% of booking paid.
Validity of prices.
When booking is confirmed and paid in full 30 days before departure, prices will not change. Prior to that, prices can change without notice.
Prices on our website include VAT and may change anytime without notice. All prices are per individual, except private tours where prices are total price. When Localguides send out price quotation or a special offer to customer, that is the valid price.
Localguides reserves the right to collect surcharges for changing of hotels, dates, rental cars, activities etc., when booking is confirmed and paid in full.
Surcharges can vary between 5000 to 20000 ISK depending on terms of our tour operators we work with.
In case of Force Majeure, Localguides are not responsible for accidents, sickness, damage or loss of belongings, changes in routes or schedule of a tour.
In case of Force Majeure, customer may have to pay additional cost because of changing in accommodation, changing in routes etc.
Localguides can not and will not be held responsible for death, any kind of illness, injury, loss of belongings or even loss of enjoyment if a tour does not reach the level of expectation´s. No matter if this is because of the individual, someone in his group or third party and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable and/or beyond Localguides control.
Localguides work with selected service operators and hotels / guesthouses. Please inform the relevant tour operator or hotel / guesthouse about your complaints in order to solve the case. If that is not possible a written complaint must be sent to Localguides before end of one week after the end of the tour in order to get compensation from the tour operator or the hotel / guesthouse.
Localguides reminds all their customers to have a solid travel insurance when travelling.
Localguides can not be held responsible for unforeseen troubles caused by insufficient insurance by the customer. Some activities sometimes need a special insurance, e.g. snowmobile, horse riding, paragliding etc. Localguides urge their customers to read carefully their insurance terms in order to be fully insured in your holiday.
